❖ What is Naady?
The Rishis of ancient India applied their minds and discovered many arts and sciences for the well-being of future generations of mankind. One such science is Astrology.
There are several branches in Astrology, or Horoscope — the casting and reading of horoscopes based on the positions of planets at the time of a person’s birth and the movements of the planets across the zodiac. This is a well-developed science, as evidenced by ancient manuscripts like Brihat Samhitas, Jaathaka Paarijatha and others. Palmistry, Numerology and Naady reading are the other disciplines.
The specialty of Naady astrology is that one’s predictions and birth chart were recorded before the birth of the individual, according to their previous births.
In those days, Holy Sages like Agasthiyar, Kaushika and Brahma Rishi (Vashistar) had super powers of extra-sensory perception and were able to predict the future of living beings, including plants and animals. For integrity and world peace, the Rishis set aside animals and plants and confined their predictions only to human beings.
It was not for all — predictions were given only for those whom the Rishis, out of their wisdom, envisaged would come forward to study the prediction at a particular time and age of life. This too has been foretold by the Rishis. These predictions were inscribed on palm leaves, like many other arts and sciences of the subjects they dealt upon, and stored in great libraries. These leaves, the repository of the wisdom of the ancient Rishis, would otherwise have been lost.
The King of Tanjore, a true patron of arts and science, found a reserve for these palm leaves in his palace library. He also had them translated from Sanskrit to Tamil with the help of Pandits. These leaves containing the astrological inscriptions were obtained in auction during British rule by the forefathers of Sri G.K. Ravi, who were living in Valathanpattinam more than three hundred years ago.
The thumb impression is a must (Male – Right, Female – Left) before reading the predictions of each person. A palm leaf is first identified by confirming date of birth details, planetary positions at the time of birth, parentage, names of close relatives, position in life, marital status, and so on. After this, the predictions for the individual follow — from the date of studying the Naady astrology to his last day.
